OUR HEART
We’re a little charity with a big heart!
We’re totally nonprofit, all volunteer.
No one gets paid.
We volunteer because we love what we do.
We provide English Classes, absolutely free, to adult students.
Why adults? Children learn in school, but there are few places that teach adults, and those that do usually charge a fee.
We’ve been around a long time.
In 2020, we celebrated 50 years of Giving the Gift of English.
And we’ve enjoyed every minute!
In 2022-2023, 150 tutors volunteered over 10,000 hours of time. We served 760 English language learners per week!
• We learn from our students, just as they learn from us. And we all learn from one another — sharing stories of culture, customs, favorite music and food.
We measure success by the success of our students . . . .
The father who can now help his children with their homework.
The mother who no longer has to have her child translate during teacher conferences.
The lonely immigrant who now calls his classmates his family.
The woman who began as a dishwasher in a restaurant and, thanks to her progress in English, became assistant manager.
